Volunteering provides opportunities for people, particularly those often excluded, to concretely impact their own lives and play a constructive role in their communities by volunteering their time and skills.

Through volunteerism, communities around the world often experience strengthened solidarity and inclusion.

This year’s #IVD2019 in YEST-IN was a spectacular celebration of volunteerism. We gathered youths from secondary and higher institutions to give them the pros and cons of volunteerism.

YEST-IN Agriculture on #IVD2019

The Agriculture wing of  YEST-IN crowned #IVD2019 with a mega workshop to empower volunteers on how to use Plantain cultivation as a method of inclusion in the community.

Through a partnership with the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine Students association of the University of Buea and D’farma Ventures, the Program Director on behalf of the organizers of the Volunteers Workshop in his keynote speech during the training addressed the importance Agriculture had in community development and Sustainable development.

Mr. Fonge Percy an agronomist and Program Director for YEST-IN Agriculture during the training said “More youths in the agriculture ecosystem means more productivity in youths and exponential increase in the Ecosystem Economy and volunteerism culture in Cameroon”.

Plantain Value Addition Chain being one of the projects in YEST-IN the training had over 250 volunteers present for the training with over 50 ladies taking the lead in the training.

As a remark from one of the participants a Masters student in the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, he expressed joy in having the opportunity to blend his theoretical knowledge with practical skills and how as a volunteer he could make himself ready for the job market. #volunteer4inclusion.

There is much to be said, but Volunteering for Inclusion is what Cameroon and Africa needs.

YEST-IN Community engagement in #IVD2019.

Mr. Gwei Michael the Executive Director of YEST-IN lead talks during the outreach on International Volunteers day.

With over 500 students from secondary schools over Buea, he steered up the Volunteerism spirit in youths by demonstrating to them the various paths and areas in which our community is deficient in.

The students; innocent and enthusiastic were amazed as to how youths all over the world develop along their professional background through Volunteerism.

In his Key note speech, the Executive Director reiterated YEST-IN’s commitment on getting more youths involved in community development.

He promised the youths on creating a more conducive and inclusive volunteering spot for all YEST-IN Volunteers where talents will be expressed and skills will be put to use.
